When God Blew Satan Out of Heaven: The Motif of Exsufflation in ‘Vercelli Homily XIX’ and Later English Literature.

Incidental references (137-39). The treatment of exsufflation in PPl B.5.495 is trinitarian in that the action of the Holy Spirit is reflected in the choice of the verb “blewe.” “This passage also presumably reflects the liturgical action of exsufflation (i.e., the act of a priest blowing upon a child at baptism as a token of exorcising the devil)” (138).
