About Us

The International Piers Plowman Society (IPPS) is dedicated to the study and teaching of Piers Plowman and related works; of the historical, religious, intellectual, codicological, and critical contexts of these works; and of their influence on poetry, thought, and culture.  It actively promotes and supports interdisciplinary approaches to the poem and its author as well as generic, theological, socio-political, stylistic or literary, and iconographic studies.

You can learn more about our history in Louise Bishop’s 2023 piece for Pedagogy & Profession, here: https://doi.org/10.5070/NC34160691

We hope to see you at IPPS MEETING 2027: Boston!
