The Spirituality of Piers Plowman: a New Look In Memory of Conrad Pepler O. P. (1908-1993)., O. P. (1908-1993).

Sixty years ago, Conrad Pepler defined the spirituality of PPl as objective, liturgical and public, emphasizing economics and relationships. Since then, understandings of the poem’s spirituality have expanded due to the work of Bourquin, Bloomfield, Alford, Bennett, St. Jacques, Middleton, Kirk and others and to new research on its views of marriage and the body, on the Lollards, and on authorship itself. Pepler was the first to call for pastoral use of PPl in translation. It is time to answer that call. [SMCD]
