Piers Plowman: A Norton Critical Edition.

Re-prints E. Talbot Donaldson’s translation of PPl B, providing a facing-page edition (by Shepherd) in the Middle English, using MS L as copy-text. As with other volumes in the Norton series, this offers translated sources and backgrounds (scriptural and religious, political and historical), and twenty selections of criticism. The earliest of the latter is Crowley’s preface to his 1550 edition; all the others are from 1936 (C. S. Lewis) and later.
