Piers Plowman: A Facsimile of the Z-Text in Bodleian Library Oxford, Oxford, MS Bodley 851.

Preceding the facsimile, Charlotte Brewer, “The Z-Text of Piers Plowman” (1-21) outlines the history of comment on the various versions, authorial and scribal, of PPl, and accounts for the disparagement of the alleged Z text by both Skeat and Kane in the editorial principles and practices each had adopted. A. G. Rigg, “MS Bodley 851” (23-42) is based on “Medieval Latin Poetic Anthologies (II),” MS 40 (1978): 387-407, revised with respect to bibliography, dating, localization, and material regarding the Z text from William Langland. Piers Plowman: The Z Version, ed. A. G. Rigg and Charlotte Brewer (Toronto: Pontifical Institute of Mediaeval Studies, 1983).
